Defect / Noncompliance Description

Describe the defect or noncompliance:
The rearview camera housing may be improperly bonded, allowing portions of the adhesive to separate over time. This can permit moisture intrusion into the camera assembly, leading to corrosion of internal electrical components. As a result, the rearview camera image may become blurry, distorted, or fail to display, resulting in a black screen.

Describe the safety risk:
If the rearview camera image is distorted or fails to display, the risk of a crash or injury is increased.

Describe the cause:
The adhesive separation is caused by improper pre-treatment (plasma irradiation) of the rearview camera case bonding surface by the supplier during the manufacturing process. The plasma treatment is believed to have caused deformation or chemical alteration of portions of the bonding surface, reducing adhesive strength and resulting in adhesive delamination over time.

Description of Remedy

Description of remedy program:
Registered owners of all affected vehicles will be contacted by mail and asked to take their vehicle to an authorized Honda or Acura dealer. The dealer will replace the rearview camera with an improved part.

How remedy component differs from recalled component:
The remedy components have an improved bonding process.

Identify how/when the recall condition was corrected in production:
The recall condition was corrected with improved rearview cameras in production on June 9, 2025.

Recall Schedule

Dealers have been notified. Owner notification is scheduled to begin in June 2026.
