NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY
Honda of Canada Mfg. begins site preparation ahead of new electric vehicle and battery plant construction

As part of its historic $15 billion Canadian EV Value Chain initiative announced in April, Honda of Canada Mfg. (HCM) unveiled plans to build two new facilities in Alliston for assembling electric vehicle batteries and vehicles. Site preparation work has begun at HCM's location on Industrial Parkway. HCM acknowledges the potential disruptions from this construction and has taken several steps to minimize the local impact. The company also thanks the community for their patience and understanding as it embarks on this exciting next step in its almost 40-year journey in Alliston.
Site preparation involves a series of tasks carried out before building new plant structures can begin. The work includes but is not limited to removing vegetation and a raised bank of land (or berm), as well as grading and leveling the area where the new buildings will be constructed. Teams have installed industrial fencing around the area to ensure the safety of the public, construction personnel and HCM associates.
HCM respectfully asks for the community's cooperation and patience while crews complete this stage of the construction project as efficiently as possible. As proud members of the community, HCM looks forward to collaborating with residents to ensure the construction process is a smooth one.
Further updates will be provided on a regular basis to ensure residents and members of the business community are informed of the project's progress.
HCM will take several measures to minimize disruption to local communities:
- Installation of special barriers and screens, as well as regular water spraying and the use of suppression materials to help control dust
- Continuous onsite monitoring to ensure the effectiveness of dust mitigation measures
- Vibration monitoring equipment to detect and ultimately, reduce effects to the surrounding area
- Installation of mud matting and truck sweeping at site exit locations to prevent tracking soil onto municipal roads
- Coordination of construction vehicles around Honda associate schedules to avoid heavy traffic times
Honda of Canada Mfg. has also made extra planning efforts to lessen the impact of truck traffic in the area; however, minor traffic delays may occur along the following routes:
- Industrial Parkway
- Highway 89
- County Road 10
- County Road 27
