Anna Engine Plant EV Battery Case Quenching
One-half of the EV battery case is megacast at the Honda Anna Engine Plant in Ohio using a 6,000-ton high-pressure die cast machine, a global first for Honda. After being megacast, the aluminum parts are quickly cooled in quench water. AEP battery cases are cast in two parts and welded into a single EV battery case in a later process. The Anna Engine Plant will mark its 40th anniversary of production this year, a history that includes production of engines and engine components, transmissions, camshafts, crankshafts, and high-tech CVT components since the plant opened in 1985.
