HPD Honda Civic Type Rs and Si Take Three Victories at Road America

HPD Honda Civic Si and Type R racers had their best weekends of the 2021 TC America Presented by Skip Barber Racing School season scoring three wins in four starts at the 4.048-mile Road America circuit in Elkhart Lake.

Carter Fartuch dominated the TCA class this weekend, putting his Honda Civic Si atop the podium to earn his first two victories on the ’21 campaign. Fartuch ran away from his competitors in a rain-delayed and then crash-shortened Saturday event, but had a much tougher battle on his hands in claiming Sunday’s win.

The Civic Si driver was chased over 15 hard-fought laps by Luke Rumberg, briefly giving up the lead after Rumberg down to the inside of the hard-braking Turn 5, but he quickly recovered and took a two-second advantage to the checkered flag.

In the TC class, Eric Powell took over the series points lead after punctuating his weekend by taking his Honda Civic Type-R to Victory Lane on Sunday. Powell’s Sunday win moved him up two spots from his Saturday result as he led the Honda fortunes with a third-place run.

Kevin Boehm finished fourth and sixth in the TC class while Mike LaMarra earned a pair of seventh-place finishes in the LA Honda World Type-R.

Jose Blanco scored Honda’s third podium of the weekend when he wheeled his Civic Si into third place in Sunday’s finale. The VGMC Racing pilot was chased to the finish by Sally McNulty, who claimed a season-best fourth-place finish. Mario Biundo matched a season-high result on Sunday, taking his LA Honda World Racing Honda Civic Si to sixth, just ahead of Chris Harrison.
