Honda Unveils All-New Talon 1000X : The highly anticipated sport side-by-side debuts in LA

During a special event held in conjunction with Honda’s Automobile Division, and coinciding with the Los Angeles Auto Show, Honda today confirmed its entry in the sport side-by-side segment, unveiling the all-new Talon 1000X that will be coming to Canada.

For decades, Honda has set the standard for sport-oriented dirt bikes with its CR and CRF lineups, and more recently, the Pioneer family has introduced unmatched capability to the multipurpose side-by-side category. Now, Honda’s highly anticipated Talon marries the two worlds, bringing a new level of off-road excitement, precision and quality to sport side-by-side driving. Drawing on countless hours of performance development in both two- and four-wheel design and racing, as well as automotive and motorcycle manufacturing know how and safety expertise, the Talon pushes the envelope of what is possible in a production sport side-by-side.

Honda developed the Talon to function at a high level in a wide variety of terrain types, bringing a new level of control, style and refinement to a sport side-by-side market that is hungry for innovation, reliability and an improved driving experience.

2019 TALON 1000X

The Talon 1000X is a completely new design, resisting the temptation to simply make it a “sport” version of the Pioneer, the new Talon takes many of its form cues from the Honda CRF dirt bike line up. From every angle dynamic lines highlight its aggressive stance, and huge wheel wells show off the Fox Podium 2.0 shocks, that instantly make you aware of how capable this machine is.

Powering the Talon 1000X is a 999 cc, quick revving, parallel twin, built on years of experience (with the Pioneer and Africa Twin). The refined engine is tuned and essentially purpose built for the Talon. It has adopted the Unicam head design from the CRF motocross bikes and tuned the exhaust to create visceral sounds with all the power, torque and reliability expected from a Honda engine.

DCT/ Drivetrain:

Connected to that 999 cc engine is a fully automatic six-speed Dual Clutch Transmission.

Steering wheel mounted paddle shifters allow the driver to instantly override the automatic transmission, to gear up or down, and then seamlessly drop back into full automatic mode. Drivers can also switch to manual mode for a more connected experience.

The Talon X comes equipped with:

I-4WD – this offers intelligent traction control for any situation. It also includes brake traction control, which will braking power to an individual wheel providing greater traction and increased performance.

Electronic Brake-force Distribution – this adjusts the braking force on the rear brakes as needed making slowing down or coming to a stop more efficient and stable.

Hill Start Assist – Perfect for those who find themselves on steep hills, HSA automatically maintains sufficient brake pressure so you can move your foot to the gas pedal - meaning no rollback.

The Talon 1000X come equipped with deep bucket seats, a pass-through for a 4-point harness system and robust automotive grade adjustments, providing both comfort and support expected in a Sport side-by-side.

The Talon 1000X offers and adjustable steering wheel that tilts for easy entry and exit and the passenger grab handle has a “quick adjust” mechanism, which allows passengers to adjust and lock it into virtually any position.

The Talon 1000X will offer a host of accessories, including roofs, cabs, covers, winches, body protection, lighting, storage, and cargo options.
