Statement by Honda Canada Inc. Regarding Centre High Mount Brake Light Safety Recall: 2017 Acura NSX

Acura has initiated a voluntarily recall of 141 NSX supercars (model year 2017) in Canada to replace the centre high mount brake light, free of charge. A short-circuit may occur in the centre high mount brake light, which may lead to a blown fuse and deactivation of all brake lights. When this condition occurs, warning lights should illuminate on the vehicle’s dashboard, and the engine should not restart after the ignition is turned off. Inoperative brake lights could increase the risk of a crash. Acura has received no reports of crashes or injuries related to this issue. 2017 Acura NSX owners whose vehicles exhibit the above-noted symptoms should not continue to drive their vehicle and should contact Acura NSX Roadside Assistance to arrange for transportation of their vehicle to the nearest dealer.

Acura is announcing this recall to notify owners of affected vehicles about the potential risk of failure and to schedule the required recall service on the vehicle. Acura will attempt to contact owners of affected vehicles by phone to schedule the recall service. Mail notification to owners of affected vehicles is expected in October 2018. Beginning on September 7, 2018, owners of 2017-2018 NSX supercars may check to see if their vehicle is subject to this recall and if so, obtain additional instructions on scheduling the recall service on their vehicle, by visiting or by calling 1-844-9-MYNSX-9 (1-844-969-6799).
