Statement by Honda Canada Inc. Regarding Fuel Tank Safety Recall: 2017-2018 Acura NSX

Acura has initiated a voluntarily recall of 151 NSX supercars (model years 2017-2018) in Canada to replace the left and right fuel tanks, free of charge. The NSX supercar is equipped with two separate fuel tanks connected with a crossover pipe. In certain vehicles, the crossover pipe was installed incorrectly. An incorrectly installed crossover pipe could result in a fuel leak over time as the vehicle is driven. A fuel leak, in the presence of outside combustion sources, could increase the risk of a fire. Acura has not become aware of any fires or injuries associated with this issue. 2017-2018 Acura NSX owners who believe that their vehicles may have a fuel leak (such as, where they notice a fuel smell in or around the vehicle or where leaking fuel is visible) should not continue to drive their vehicle and should contact Acura NSX Roadside Assistance to arrange for transportation of their vehicle to the nearest dealer.

Acura is announcing this recall to notify owners of affected vehicles about the potential risk of failure and to schedule the required recall service on their vehicle. Acura will attempt to contact owners of affected vehicles by phone to schedule service. Mail notification to owners of affected vehicles is expected to begin in October 2018. Beginning on September 7, 2018, owners of 2017-2018 NSX supercars may check to see if their vehicle is subject to this recall and if so, obtain additional instructions on arranging recall service on their vehicle by visiting www.acura.ca/recalls or by calling 1-844-9-MYNSX-9 (1-844-969-6799).
