Honda Civic Type R TCR Closes Out Michelin Pilot Challenge Season With Podium Finish at Road Atlanta

  • Ryan Eversley and Mike LaMarra score third place in difficult Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta season finale
  • LA Honda World bounce back from difficult practice to podium result
  • Mat Pombo and William Tally suffer issues on the penultimate lap after eyeing top-five finish

The Honda Civic Type R TCRs from LA Honda World showed strong pace today at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, with the #73 team scoring a podium finish and the #7 squad looking set for a top five before an issue on the penultimate lap of the two-hour race.

Driving the #73 Honda Civic Type R TCR FL5, Ryan Eversley and Mike LaMarra closed out the season with a third place finish in the Fox Factory 120. The team struggled with issues in qualifying that necessitated an engine change and left them with minimal running time prior to today's green flag and worked their way up to third after starting from the very back of the field.

The sister #7 team was looking set for a promising result in their Honda Civic Type R TCR for co-drivers Mat Pombo and William Tally to end the season. Unfortunately, Pombo would encounter an issue that necessitated him to re-cycle the power aboard his #7 machine, dropping them down the running order from fourth to seventh in the closing laps of the race.

Quotes
Ryan Eversley (#37 LA Honda World Honda Civic Type R TCR) Finished third in TCR: "It was a nice way to end my program at HPD, with a trophy and a podium at my home track. It's so great to race with Mike LaMarra after battling against each other back in the day. Like I said, to end the year on the box, with some hardware, it means a lot to me. I'm grateful for my time at HPD and all the people I got to work with. I think this is a good way to say thanks to them. Also thank you to [team owner] Mario Biundo and everyone at LA Honda World. I've got my Honda Civic sitting in the parking lot and the last two times I've driven it to the track I've ended up on the podium!"

Mike LaMarra (#37 LA Honda World Honda Civic Type R TCR) Finished third in TCR: "The podium finish a great reward. We didn't turn any laps at speed in practice, the first hot laps we had after an engine change were at the green flag for the race! The engineers and the team did a great job, HPD helped us immensely. And Ryan did a great job in his stint to finish the race. It was really fantastic. To go from basically last to the podium is a good hard charger result for us."
