Honda Leaders Earn Automotive News’ Top 100 Leading Women in the North American Auto Industry Award
Markham, ON. Nov. 10, 2020 – Two of Honda’s automotive manufacturing leaders
in Ontario and Ohio were recently recognized among the 100 Leading Women in the
North American Auto Industry by Automotive
News.
Susan Kenny
(photo), Engine Plant Manager at Honda of Canada Mfg. (HCM), and Gail May, Performance
Manufacturing Center Division Manager at Honda of America Manufacturing, Inc., received
the honors after a months-long nomination and judging process that attracted
hundreds of entries from the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Kenny leads more
than 500 associates in the day-to-day operations for engine production and works
to ensure HCM is prepared for the next generation of powertrain products.
May leads
day-to-day operations at the Performance Manufacturing Center, the exclusive global
production headquarters for the Acura NSX supercar and home to several “PMC
Edition” Acura models, and is responsible for strategic planning and oversight
of quality and delivery at the plant.
Both women started their careers at Honda in 1993.
The 100
Leading Women in the North American Auto Industry Award recognizes women who are leaders in the automotive
field. Automotive News has published the list of the industry’s top female
executives every five years since 2000.
Honda in North America
Honda
established operations in North America in 1959. Today, the company employs
more than 40,000 associates in the region, engaged in the development,
manufacturing, sales and service support of Honda and Acura automobiles, Honda
power equipment, Honda powersports products, the HondaJet advanced lightjet and
GE Honda HF120 turbofan engines.
Based on its
longstanding commitment to build products close to the customer, Honda operates
19 major manufacturing plants in North America, working with more than 740
suppliers in the region to produce the diverse range of Honda products. In
2019, more than 90 percent of the Honda and Acura automobiles sold in the U.S.
were produced in North America, using domestic and globally sourced parts.

operates 15 major research and development centers in North America which fully
design, develop and engineer many of the products the company makes in North
America.
