Herta, Palou head Honda Front Row Qualifying Sweep At the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix

• Colton Herta claims pole in qualifying for Sunday's NTT INDYCAR SERIES race on the streets of downtown Detroit
• Defending race winner and series champion Alex Palou completes an all-Honda front row

Colton Herta will head an all-Honda front row as the Andretti Global Honda driver claimed his first pole of the 2024 NTT INDYCAR SERIES today in qualifying for Sunday's Detroit Grand Prix.

Herta edged out defending race winner and 2023 INDYCAR series champion Alex Palou by just 0.152 seconds to claim his 12th career pole. Palou made it an all-Honda front row for tomorrow's 100-lap race as the Chip Ganassi Racing driver seeks his second victory of 2024 and a third career title.

Honda drivers claimed four of the top six qualifying positions, with Palou's teammate Scott Dixon starting fifth while Kyle Kirkwood rounded out the top six qualifiers today in his Andretti Global Honda.

It was disappointing to say the least. To come back here and get some redemption, it feels good. It's so hard to get a clean lap here, it's probably the most aggressive place we go to in terms of bumps and walls. That makes it feel even better."

Alex Palou (#10 Chip Ganassi Racing Honda) will start second: "We were fast today, but I'm not sure if we were better than Colton. But I'm happy. The car has been awesome since Practice 1 yesterday, and were able to fight for P1 in every qualifying segment today. So yeah, starting from the front and looking forward to tomorrow. We have a fast car."
