Lundqvist Leads All-Honda Top Four in Road America Qualifying

It was all Hondas at the front of the field in NTT INDYCAR SERIES qualifying today for the XPEL Grand Prix at Road America. Led by rookie Linus Lundqvist, scoring his first-career pole position in his #8 Chip Ganassi Racing machine, Honda drivers made up the first four spots on the grid for Sunday's race.

Andretti Global's Colton Herta impressed in the wet-to-dry conditions of the session, and will roll off second. Herta set his fastest time of the Firestone Fast Six, jumping him into second, just before the red flag was brought out by a crash from Team Penske's Josef Newgarden, ending the session. 

Chip Ganassi Racing's Marcus Armstrong and Andretti Global's Kyle Kirkwood will make up the second row, both for Honda. Armstrong and Kirkwood will start this weekend's race in the same order they finished in the Detroit Grand Prix last weekend—where Honda scored an impressive 1-2-3-4 finish.

Marcus Armstrong (#11 Chip Ganassi Racing Honda) will start third: "We had a good session in the wet, honestly. I wish we could've done another lap once the track started drying out, but it's still a great result for us."

• After six championship rounds of the 2024 NTT INDYCAR SERIES, Honda comes to Road America leading the Manufacturers' Championship battle with Chevrolet by 16 points (482-466).
• Last weekend, Scott Dixon became the first two-time race winner of the 2024 season, adding his win at the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix to his April victory at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. He now leads the Drivers' Championship standings after six of 17 races with 216 points. Dixon's Chip Ganassi Racing Honda teammate, Indy GP winner Alex Palou, is second with 198 points.
• Honda Indy car drivers have scored nine victories at Road America, most recently in 2023, which was won by Palou, in his Chip Ganassi Racing Honda, en route to his second NTT INDYCAR SERIES championship in the last three years.
