Honda announced today that it is voluntarily initiating a Safety Improvement Campaign in Canada affecting certain 2001 through 2010 Honda and Acura vehicles to replace the driver’s front airbag inflator.
The Safety Improvement Campaign will cover approximately 700,000 vehicles in Canada. Owners of affected vehicles will be notified by mail and requested to bring their vehicles to an authorized Honda /Acura dealer for replacement of the affected part. This action is being taken to address the concerns of our customers residing outside the regions of high temperature and high absolute humidity, thereby supporting the ongoing investigation into this issue currently underway in the United States.
Honda Canada places the highest priority on the quality and safety of our products and the satisfaction of our customers. To date, Honda Canada is not aware of any reported claims of injuries or deaths in Canada relating to a ruptured airbag inflator of any Takata produced airbag in a Honda or Acura vehicle. Honda is announcing this action to encourage owners to take their vehicles to an authorized Acura or Honda dealer as soon as they receive notification from Acura or Honda. Owners may call 1-800-667-6784 if they have further questions. Information will be provided on www.honda.ca/recalls or www.acura.ca/recalls as soon as the affected vehicle identification numbers are confirmed.
