- Improper programming of the Fuel Injection Electronic Control Unit (FI-ECU) could cause the check engine light to illuminate and cause the engine to lose drive power, hesitate and/or stall
- Authorized Honda and Acura dealerships will perform free software update
- Honda Canada has not received any confirmed reports of crashes or injuries related to this issue
Honda Canada will voluntarily recall about 17,000 Honda and Acura vehicles to update the FI-ECU software.
Due to improper programming of the FI-ECU, sudden changes in the throttle could illuminate the check engine light and cause the engine to lose drive power, hesitate and/or stall, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
Honda self-diagnosed this issue by monitoring telematics information and determined the need to perform the software update of the supplier part.
Registered owners of all affected models will be contacted by mail in February and asked to take their vehicle to an authorized Honda or Acura dealer to update the FI-ECU software, for free.
Honda Canada is announcing this recall to encourage owners of affected vehicles to take them to an authorized dealer for repair as soon as they receive notification.
Owners of these vehicles can also determine if their vehicles require repair by visiting www.Honda.ca/recalls , www.Acura.ca/recalls or by calling 1-888-946-6329.
