Statement by Honda Canada Inc. Regarding Driver’s-side 2nd Row Seatback Safety Recall: 2014-2015 Honda Odyssey

  • 22,056 Odyssey minivans in Canada are subject to this recall
  • Driver’s-side 2nd row seatback may not lock in place after being reclined
  • No injuries reported related to this issue

Honda has initiated a voluntarily recall of 22,056 previous generation Odyssey vehicles (model years 2014-2015) in Canada to service the driver’s-side second row seatback mechanism, free-of-charge. If, at the time of recall service, it is determined that the seatback recliner does not lock, the seatback frame will also be replaced, free-of-charge.

This recall is being initiated because the driver’s-side second row outer seat seatback recliner mechanism may not lock back into position after being reclined using the walk-in lever, or if the walk-in lever is activated while the seat is fully reclined. An unlocked seatback may move unexpectedly during acceleration, braking or during a crash, increasing the possibility of injury to a seated passenger. Honda has received no reports of injuries related to this issue.

Honda is announcing this recall to notify owners to seek the free recall service as soon as they receive notification from Honda. Mail notification to owners of affected vehicles is expected to begin in late-April 2018. In addition, owners of 2014-2015 Odyssey vehicles may check to see if their vehicle is affected by visiting www.honda.ca/ recalls or by calling 1-888-946-6329.
