Honda of Canada Mfg. Wins J.D. Power Award

Plant’s Line 2 ranked first among Honda’s manufacturing facilities globally

Honda of Canada Mfg. (HCM) Line 2, building the Honda CR-V in Alliston, Ontario, has been awarded the Bronze plant ranking for North/South America in the 2021 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study (IQS).

In addition, HCM’s Line 2 ranked first among Honda factories globally and HCM’s Line 1 placed third. Plant awards are based on the least number of manufacturing-related defects or malfunctions per vehicle.

“These results illustrate the dedication of our associates, perhaps even more so this year than in the past, given the challenges we have all faced due to the pandemic,” said John Leibold, Quality Division Manager for Honda of Canada Mfg. “Our associates work exceptionally hard to produce the best possible quality for our customers, so it is encouraging to see those efforts reflected in this year’s results.”

Paul Correa, HCM’s Corporate IQS Leader, noted that taking the customer viewpoint has always been key to HCM’s success. “We analyzed our 2020 results and zeroed in on what consumers were telling us about our vehicles. We set some very specific targets and worked towards meeting and exceeding them. Our associates take considerable pride in building a quality product and this is validation of their hard work.”

Honda of Canada Mfg. began operations in 1986 at its Plant 1 site, opened its Plant 2 facility in 1998 and began engine production in the fall of 2008. HCM Line 2 produces the Honda CR-V while Line 1 builds the Civic sedan.
