Statement by Honda Canada Regarding Fuel Filter Assembly Recall: 2005-2010 Honda Odyssey

Honda will voluntarily recall 63,628 Odyssey minivans from the 2005-2010 model-years in Canada to replace the fuel filter assembly, free of charge. Prolonged exposure to acidic chemicals, present in some car wash formulas and the general environment, along with high ambient temperatures may cause the cover of the fuel filter assembly to deteriorate prematurely, resulting in cracks in the material. Cracks in the cover of the fuel filter assembly, which is located on the top of the fuel tank, could lead to a fuel smell being present or, in extreme cases, to fuel leaks, increasing the risk of fire. Honda is not aware of any incident related to this issue in Canada, which was identified from repairs in other countries.

Since these vehicles are no longer in production, updated fuel filter assemblies will only be available in spring of 2014. Honda is announcing this recall to encourage all owners of an affected vehicle to take it to an authorized dealer as soon as they receive notification of this recall from Honda. In addition to contacting customers by mail, owners of these vehicles will be able to determine if their vehicles require repair by going to www.honda.ca/recalls or by calling 1-888-9HONDA9.
