- 2,492 Civic Coupes affected in Canada;
- Rear side marker lights will be inspected and, if necessary, repaired, free of charge
Honda Canada will voluntarily recall approximately 2,492 Civic Coupes from the 2016 model year to inspect the rear side marker lights to determine if they illuminate properly and, if necessary, replace the rear light assembly, free of charge.
Honda discovered this issue during routine vehicle inspections at the factory and has received no related customer or dealer reports.Certain taillight assemblies may have a light emitting diode (LED) side marker light circuit board that was damaged during transit from a parts supplier, making the marker light inoperable and thus noncompliant within the motor vehicle safety standards (CMVSS 108). Affected vehicles with an inoperative rear side marker light may have decreased visibility in traffic, increasing the risk of a crash.
Honda is announcing this recall to encourage each owner of an affected vehicle to take it to an authorized dealer as soon as they receive notification of this recall from Honda. Notification to customers will begin in August 2016. Additionally, owners of these vehicles can determine if their vehicles will require inspection by going to www.honda.ca/recalls or by calling (888) 9HONDA9.
