Honda Canada showcased its fuel cell technology at a Ride-N-Drive event at Ontario legislature in collaboration with The Canadian Hydrogen Fuel-Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) Coalition of automakers. The event offered government officials the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the Honda Clarity to experience first-hand the safety, environmental benefits and transformative potential of Hydrogen powered vehicles.
The event was attended by a number of provincial government officials including The Honourable Chris Ballard, Minister of the Environment and Climate Change, The Honourable Glen Thibeault, Minister of Energy, The Honourable Steven Del Duca, The Honourable Liz Sandals, Minister of the Treasury Board, John Godfrey, Ontario’s Special Advisor for Climate Change, and many more provincial representatives.
Dedicated provincial funding to help build an initial network of publically accessible hydrogen fueling outlets and to support consumer and fleet FCEV purchases is a critical first step toward realizing the potential of FCEVs to help Ontario achieve significant GHG emission reductions in transportation.
The Honda Clarity Fuel Cell represents the pinnacle of zero emissions vehicles. With its impressive fuel economy, quick-refills and zero emissions, the technology demonstrates enough capability to warrant more investment into its development, research and broader infrastructure across Canada.
