Honda Civic leads passenger car sales on year-to-date basis
MARKHAM, ON (April 1, 2015) – Combined March sales of 14,749 units by the Honda and Acura divisions of Honda Canada Inc. represented a 4% decrease versus last year’s sales. The Honda Automobile Division reported March sales of 13,106 units, down 3% versus last year. The Acura Division reported March sales of 1,643 units, down 11% versus last year.
“Traffic to our Canadian dealer network was below what we would expect in March. This was particularly evident in the Atlantic provinces, as the impact of extreme weather set new car buying as a low priority for people, as one would expect,” said Dave Gardner, senior vice president of operations, Honda Canada Inc. “We’re very pleased however, that Honda Civic sales rallied in March placing it at the top of passenger car sales on a year-to-date basis and our Acura TLX maintains strong monthly sales since its launch.”
• Honda Fit sales continue to be strong with 947 units sold (up 20% versus last year)
• Honda Civic became the leader of passenger car sales with 5,554 units sold in March 2015 (10,458 units sold YTD, up 64% versus 2014)
• Honda Odyssey saw year-over-year growth of 32% (1,264 units sold versus 956 units in 2014)
• Acura TLX sales up 99% versus March 2014 and nearly 500% YTD
