Honda Canada Begins 2015 with Strong Performances from Core Models

Acura RDX, Honda Fit, Odyssey and Canadian-made CR-V see year-over-year growth

MARKHAM, ON (February 3, 2015) – Combined January sales of 7,561 units by the Honda and Acura divisions of Honda Canada Inc. represented a 2% decrease over last year’s sales. The Honda Automobile Division reported January sales of 6,554 units, down 4% versus last year. The Acura Division reported January sales of 1,007 units, up 10% over last year.

“We're coming off the best sales year in our history and while our January figures are lower than expected we’re confident we will bounce back, especially with the highly anticipated Honda HR-V and refreshed Acura ILX coming to market in the next few months," said Dave Gardner, senior vice president of operations, Honda Canada Inc. "In January, we saw strong sales performance from our refreshed core models like the Honda Fit – AJAC’s Best New Small Car under $21k - and the Canadian-made Honda CR-V. The Acura luxury brand has jumped ahead of expectations with a 10 per cent increase over last year, thanks to the impressive RDX.”

January Highlights:

•    As AJAC’s Best New Small Car under $21,000, Honda Fit sales are up a staggering 198% versus the same period last year, (826 units versus 277 units in 2014), setting an all-time January sales record
•    The Honda Odyssey enjoyed strong momentum in the new year with 600 units sold for year-over-year increase of 5%
•    The Canadian-made Honda CR-V continued its success with an impressive increase of sales to 1,863 units for a year-over-year increase of 30%.
•    Acura RDX surpassed expectations with a 363 units sold for year-over-year growth of 13%
